Why should I own a G.T.F. case?

We are cue collectors. We own a lot of expensive, functional, and works of art cues in addition to all the great cues we also own cases by the great case makers both of present and past.  It is our opinion that the extrusion style of Fellini and Centennial were the best mix of form and function.  We believe that the padded protectiveness that John Barton builds into his cases what was missing from the extrusion style cases.

So the G.T.F. case is a blend of the timeless form of the Fellinni and the superior function and protection of JB Cases. As collectors, and ones who believe in cue protection are proud to offer the finest in G.T.F. functionality.  This is the case we have always wanted to compliment and protect our vast numbers of cue investments.  We think you should buy a G.T.F. case because you care about preserving your fine cue, the playability and the beautiful condition of that investment.

What is an Extrusion Built cue case?

An Extrusion Built Cue Case is a case that is built using seamless polypropylene. The plastic is heated and pulled or to use the technical term is extruded through the mold.  This type of construction provides a lightweight and moisture-proof shield against impact.  This precision built Extrusion Case stands out because the lid and body are joined.  There is a secondary tube that is Precisely Fitted to form an airtight chamber prevents the cues from ever being exposed to excess moisture.

What makes G.T.F. Design Cue Cases better than other extrusion built cue cases?

The cases are fully lined with moisture resistance foam backed material and have a self-adjusting precision-fit lid structure for the best in a vacuum seal, the "Loveable Hug™"padding system that holds your investment in the case even if it were inverted upside down without your cue falling out.

Additionally the fabric covers all of the plastic parts so there is no exposed extrusion on these cases for the cue to get scratched by the plastic edges.  Similar style cases have the liner to the top edge of the case which leaves the edge exposed and the liner often slips down with time.

Only G.T.F.  cases provide a foam rubber barrier to further seal out moisture. This also makes the lid fit like a glove.

G.T.F. cases are the only extrusion style case that features special layers of padding at the bottom of the case. This means that the cue and shafts are held securely and do not have any chance to bang against each other when the case is jostled or dropped. Other cases use a simple tube made of water absorbing felt.  This offers minimal impact protection and allows excess moisture to accumulate around your cue investment.

The bottom line is that G.T.F. cases are better because the entire construction have been engineered with the best in cue protection and security in mind every step of the process.  G.T.F. cases have meet every standard of measurement when it some to quality, protection, security, and case designs in addition to the number one selection of leathers, textures, and colors.

What size extrusion built cases does G.T.F. offer?

At this time, G.T.F. Designs build the most popular sizes of 1 x 2 and 2 x 4.  G.T.F. is considering offering a 3x6 case size at some point in the future.

A few words from Case Maker
John Barton

Hello,

My name is John Barton.  I am a cue case maker. In 1991 I founded Instroke Cue Cases.

I started out making only one-of-a-kind unique cases. Each case was either a creation of my own devising or a collaboration between the customer's desire and my interpretation of that desire. I have a team of wonderfully talented craftsmen.  Each case is crafted by hand, one case at a time.  I ran that company with various partners until 2007 then I sold the rights to the Taiwanese company that was at the time producing the cases with me. After selling Instroke I took a hiatus from case making. Beginning in May 2007 I began making cases once again and by late 2007 I was given the opportunity by the GTF folks to follow a dream of mine and make cases in the Fellini style.

I believe that I have made a credible tribute to this genre of  case designs staying true to the core idea of efficiency while adding in my case protective features that compliment today's highly expensive cue investments.

Philosophy:   Protection first. A case's function is first to protect the contents and second to provide easy access to it's contents.  Based on that idea I build cases where the form follows the function. A case to look at it is a center-out approach. Using the cues as the reason for several layers of protection around them.

Protection:   I started making cases for one simple reason, protection. Not just any protection either. Specifically, protection against damage resulting from your cues coming out of the case when you don't expect them to. I had a $1400 Schon Cue that was broken because the case was knocked off the table and the cue shot out of it and the       butt cap clattered to the floor. That case was a $500 custom beauty. Top of the line at the time. But it didn't do the one thing it should have and that was to protect my cues until I removed them.

What kind of protection am I talking about?  Well, as mentioned earlier each case I make does not release the cues until you take them out. Each case has high density foam rubber to pad against impact contusions. Each case has layers of insulation to provide the best moisture resistant protection against environmental changes. Each case is lined with a non-abrasive and non-moisture absorbing material to protect the finish from damage and to help keep the cue dry. No cue parts will be allowed to touch any other area of your cue investment.
